Mr. Manners

This is the sweetest kid I know. He's so smart and has great manners! Although he screamed and wailed while getting his haircut yesterday (he started before we walked in the door!), as soon as she turned the clippers off and I said, "All done!" he turned around and told the stylist, "Thank You." You always hear people say that motherhood is a thankless job? Well not in this house! I guess I should have expected this... as soon as he learned to clap he would clap for me when I finished changing his most "interesting" diapers. Even now he will say, "Thank you, Momma" when I am finished changing him. His voice is so sweet and sincere it makes you feel bad if you didn't give him your best. Like the day he wanted pancakes but the phone didn't stop ringing and mommy ended up serving them a little, um... "crispy." He shoved in mouthfuls mumbling "Mmmm, it's good! Thank you, Momma! Good job!" Complete with a thumbs up. Makes my heart melt to hear his little voice saying such sweet things. I love this kid! When I got my camera out today to take some pics of him with his new haircut, he was happy to sit on the little stool and tell me about what he saw out the window. He didn't sit very still but when I walked away to make him some doughnuts, he stayed at the window. A few moments later he looked over at me and asked nicely, "All done, Momma?" I didn't know he was waiting patiently for me to finish taking his picture! He's a happy kid and we are so blessed to have him in our lives.

On The Road

This is my entry for "On The Road" although really, Jeremiah took this picture of his little tractor. John built this table for him with his new power tools that he got for Christmas and I painted the top green then added some "roads." Jeremiah loves to stack his blocks on the table and build "tunnels" (arches) and drive his cars through them. We set up a little city complete with trees and signs. Jeremiah drove his cars around and around the roads. I got my camera out to capture him enjoying his new table (see below) and he took my camera and got some close-ups of his cars enjoying life "On The Road"!

#13 On The Road

Numbers

Jeremiah (being the fun little two-year-old that he is) found the Skip-Bo cards and preceeded to dump them all over the floor. So, I (being the good disciplinarian) told him to tell me all the numbers he saw while I got out my camera to get this shot for the scavenger hunt!

Basket Case

Just a few fun pics of Jeremiah playing in his laundry basket this afternoon. He loves to sit and sing or practice counting or just be silly.

Have a great weekend!!!

Believe

This was not the word that crossed my mind when I set up the backdrop and asked Jeremiah to "play" with mommy for a moment. I was thinking of words like "fun" and "good afternoon sun" and "catchlights." But when I started shooting, my heart filled with words like "love" and "miracle." After losing two babies, it's hard not to see the miracle of life when I look into these eyes...
How can one not believe in a loving and faithful God when holding a child in your arms? When I catch a glance at this sweet little face and perfect little features, I am in awe of how blessed we are to have Jeremiah in our lives...
Such a good little boy, he is so kind and sweet. Grandma says he's a little angel and she can feel his wings growing in everytime she rubs his back. I say he's a glimpse of heaven - hearts full of warmth and love... full of joy to overflowing...

Relaxation

What comes to mind when I hear the word "relaxation?" It means Jeremiah is taking a two hour nap, I have a fresh cup of coffee, a good book, trusty Bible, my journal, and feet propped up on the couch for some quiet "me" time (and maybe a quick nap!). Ahhh... a bit of afternoon sun shining through the window and a comfy place to rest... what more can you ask for? Life is good and can only get better!

Illuminate

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house. Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
~ Matthew 5:14-16

il·lu·mi·nate:

a to supply or brighten with light; light up.
a to make lucid or clear; throw light on (a subject).
a to enlighten, as with knowledge.
a to make resplendent or illustrious

When you are filled with His light, it's difficult to hide it. It is beautiful. It is glorious. It draws attention. It is what we have been seeking. The light reveals the truth. The truth about ourselves, where we are and where we are going. When we stay in darkness we stay uncertain and unclear. When we allow our flame to ignite, we must kindle that flame. The hope is to one day be a raging inferno.

Solitude

Life with a toddler in the house can feel a little chaotic to a cat that has lived 10 years as an "only child." Morgan has several cubby spaces to retreat when Jermiah is awake. Her new favorite place to nap in the afternoon is in a dining room chair. Oftentimes, we don't even know she is there until someone tries to sit down for a meal. Here she is in grey and white, tucked away in her little moment of solitude.

Fluffy

Jeremiah loves to crawl up into our bed & take a nap. He loves the big fluffy pillows and covers. But when we set up his "big boy bunk beds" he still wanted to nap in our bed. At naptime, he runs to our room and jumps into the bed and with a big smile says "Big Bed, I did it!" Here he is all fluffy, snuggly ready to take a nap...

Laugh Lines

I decided that if I were going to be in my thirties with lines on my face, they should at least be laugh lines, right? This is the thought that came to me when I was looking down the list of the photo scavenger hunt from twopeasinabucket. So here is my take on item #5 - "Lines."

Photographer in Training

Jeremiah is all too familiar with having his picture taken. He has also developed a desire to be a photographer himself! He often asks for Mommy's "cheese" so he can capture his favorite things. He is so used to seeing the camera in my face, I am beginning to think I look odd to him without it! I'm happy that he has an interest in my hobby. Maybe it'll be something we can continue to share as he grows up.
I was trying to capture his cute little cubby feet but didn't get the right shot. Here is one he took himself and it turned out pretty good. It's all about the angle I suppose!

Capturing life, one photo at a time...

I love pictures! I decided to start this blog to let you into my everyday life as I capture it - one photo at a time. I'll officially start this photo blog tomorrow!
