My Little Man

Wow, he's getting so big! I can't believe I have a little boy and no more baby boy! He thinks he's so big at the ripe old age of three but then here he is with his beloved "Ba-Ba" in hand! I thought about trying to work it out of our lives but what would be the point? He likes it, it gives him comfort, it's convenient for him to clean up his messes with it (yeah and ugh! LOL)... when he hit me with his toy on accident earlier today and I "cried", he offered it to me and said "It's okay!" *sigh* So it's kinda cute too! But I know that one day he'll give it up and move on and until then, it's no big deal. It could be a lot worse! Anyways, here he is with his big self:

Farmer Jo

I know you are laughing... I am too! HAHA! I never really experienced home grown tomatoes until I moved to KY and let me tell you - YUM YUM! So this year I thought I'd give it a try (it only took 13 years of living in KY to get me to this point!). I am so excited that I haven't killed this plant yet! Here are my "first fruits" - the first two tomatoes on my little plant. Adorable, aren't they? We really like fried green tomatoes so I am wondering how many tomatoes will get to fully ripen in this garden? I just planted one tomato plant! I also planted a zuccini plant and there are tiny little ones starting to grow! John wanted a habenaro plant so maybe we'll make some salsa this summer. So there you have it. My three little plants make up my very first garden. So pathetic looking! heehee But if I don't kill them, I may branch out to a few more next year!

Oh, and just so I can be on theme... check out the hairy texture of the stems!

POTD #25 Scrapbook Night

Monday Night Mayhem is more like it! That is what happens when you get us crazy scrappers together for our usual scrap night. We load up on coffee and chocolate, share scrap ideas, and laugh ourselves silly. Yes, a good time is had by all...

And what does J do while we're scrapping? He's playing with his buddy, Sammy, or he's drawing of course!

POTD #24 - Fire

I have SO not been on theme in a couple weeks! This week is "fire" and I decided to find SOMETHING to post for today! So I looked around and found J's new bath toy from his Uncle David & Aunt Erin. The fire truck is really adorable and squirts water! Okay, all the toys here squirt water, but it sure sounds neat when you point out that the fire truck does, right? The fun little foam "map" is great too so I also included a pic of the whole set. There is a "lake" cut out for the boat - too cute! J thinks the "map" makes a great little boogie board - perfectly his size in the tub when Mommy is making waves!

I'll try to be more creative next time!

Tagged Again!

This time I was tagged with a challenge! Just what I needed since I need more practice and some motivation to get inspired by something new! I was tagged by Dewey06 (mom2Drew) and challenged to go into my kitchen, turn 45 degrees and find something to shoot. So next I went, and I turned and there next to the microwave was this little straw holder my mom insisted we had to have for J (because he loves straws oh-so-much!). It almost didn't make it back home as it got smashed in the suitcase and now carries a crack that will forever scar this cute little plastic container. Oh, well. J still loves it and it beats digging straws out of those plastic bags! The colors are kind of fun too!

Now back to the forums to find someone else to tag!

Kx3 Shoot

I just love victims, er... I mean, willing participants! It's nice because I SOOOOOO need the practice! I haven't been as diligent with getting my camera out everyday and it's really showing! Grrr... Well, these nice siblings let me take some shots of them and I had such a hard time with the coloring! I kicked myself over a lot of things but this one is the worst! Big sis is much paler skinned than tan brother so to balance made it difficult. I feel like I'm missing something. Any suggestions on how to get better color SOOC? Thanks for peeking! HHCC on all aspects appreciated!

Aren't they just too cute? Great little bunch!

Summer of Overcoming

That is what this summer is becoming for J! He's always been a texture freak. If it's slippery or slimy, cold or wet, then he usually keeps his distance. But this summer, momma's pushing it! Through the whining, fussing and crying we are going to get over some of the formerly uncharterable areas!

Yesterday the storm blew away our plans to play at the park so we went over to a good friend's house to have our play date there! J & S had a blast fingerpainting! I was really surprised because every time I tried to get J to do anything involving slippery, wet, hand-tainting things he would break out into a whine of "it's nasty!" and beg me to clean it off as the crocodile tears poured. So of course I broke out the camera to capture this!
Today we took a walk and ended up at Grandma & Papaw's house. The rest of the family was coming over to swim so Daddy ran home to get our swimsuits so we could join them. It took a half hour of whining, crying, snotting and screaming before J finally decided the pool wasn't so bad. I had to drag him to the center of the pool and spin him around (what seemed like 100 times!) and he finally cracked a smile and even let loose a giggle or two. Then we spent almost 2 hours in the pool and he cried because we had to leave! I was so thrilled that he got over his fear of doing something unfamiliar. Last summer he cried and threw a fit about everything and this year looked like it would be the same. I can feel the dread lifting knowing there is hope J will be able to enjoy all the outings we'll be taking this summer!

Oh, and just for fun... I took my 10,000th shot with my Canon XT yesterday. Of all things, that particular shot was S with his finger up his nose letting us know he was finished with his painting. Oh how I love little boys!

J's Story Board

I joined in the storyboard craze... I was really just playing around to see if I could make a decent one in case someone asked me to do one for them and I think I kind of liked the way it turned out. Let me know if you like it or what you'd change, etc... I may like it okay but I may like your suggestions better so CC away so I can learn & get better!

I have it here in color and also with the background in B&W - which do you like better?

The writing reads: "It used to be that I could look at you and see traces of the baby you once were. Now I look at you and instead catch glimpses of the man you will become."

Family Time

It was a gorgeous day! Beautiful blue skies...bright warm sun...gentle breeze... it was a perfect day! We took a walk around the neighborhood and J partially mowed a few lawns on the way! Here are just a few from our little trek around the block. It was about one o'clock so the sun was super strong but I love these captures of our time together...

Here he goes mowing the neighborhood:

This one cracks me up:
And finally, way to go, Dad! He braved the wild beast and actually took a pic of me & J! There aren't many of us. I got a hug and kiss from my fave toddler and daddy caught it on film (kind of!). Not too bad with full sun, I think he has promise:

"K" Shoot

K was so much fun! She is crazy, silly and, luckily for me, bored with school being out so she was available for me to take out for some "practice shooting". I think I owe her some ice cream or something...

These are some we shot this morning, it was hot and the sun was so bright! And when we were at the park some weird guy kept driving back and forth staring at her. When he pulled over to park, we decided it was time to go home!

This is a sneak peek for her and for me? An opportunity for you to give me some HHCC!

***Mom2Drew: The "background" for the chicken pics is actually the sheer curtains hanging in front of my living room window. I figured if he were happily sitting in his comfy chair I might get him to eat something different! It was really bright and gave me a chance to practice with the flash again to try to get a decent pic (instead of a silhouette!). I hope your DS isn't so picky. J used to love yogurt and other "slimy" things but not anymore... =(

How To Draw A Robot...

Here is the instructional video by Jeremiah titled "How To Draw A Robot."

We "shot" this film the day before his third B-day. Just wanted you to see the little artist in action!

"It's Ice Cream!"

Yup, that is what my little guy said when he picked up the chicken drumstick! I guess from the shape? Oh and this is the kid that does not eat ice cream because it's A) cold and B) has a wet, slippery texture (he hates that!) This really isn't on theme this week unless you want to count that FOOD is something we can't live without! I was pretty excited about him eating this since he is so picky it's hard to get him to eat ANYTHING at all (hence his skinny little self!). But I was especially thrilled that he ate some chocolate pudding - he's very phobic about that type of texture! So, I feel like we are making some progress around here with something! Here he is experimenting from each angle:
