More from A&S's wedding...

Oh do I have so much to learn about shooting weddings! It was nice that this was a very low pressure wedding of a friend. Here is just a random sampling of how all the shots turned out. CC away so I cen get better at this. I really want to grow and learn! Thanks!

This one was posted a couple days ago and there was a recommendation for this in B&W - great idea! I like it much better, the green was distracting!

Here are some boring shots of the Groom and Best Man. Nice guys but the photographer needs work! CC??

I tried this one in B&W too. I was really disappointed that we did not have time to get many shots of the Bride, getting all the girls ready took a long time and that cut into picture taking time.
This was just a sweet moment between the two while her mother sang a song but I really don't think it's a good image at all:
The kiss at the cake...

I just feel like all the shots are boring and just plain no good in general. I know what I see wrong in them but would also like to hear it from you so HHCC away and let me know what I shoulda/coulda done to get better shots.

Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!

Jeremiah's newest obsession? This summer he discovered the movie TOY STORY. My aunt gave him a copy of this movie and he's watched it EVERY day since! And two weeks later, he was ecstatic when he discovered there was a sequel. Then Grandma (who has no idea what Toy Story is) just happened to decide that J needed a Mr. Potato Head. Well, let's just say Jeremiah was beside himself with joy at his new "Toy Story Tato Head" toy. What happened to that kid who would spend the entire day drawing? He did not touch his "draw" (doodle pad) for two days. He played with Mr. Potato Head endlessly and took him everywhere - even to bed! Then Daddy found Buzz Lightyear at a collector's mall and Jeremiah is on cloud nine. So what did I find when I peeked at J while he was taking a nap? He was all curled up with Mr. P and Buzz. He actually had "Tato Head" tucked under his arm but by the time returned with the camera, he had rolled over. But it's still so cute to me to see him in love with his toys! And guess what. Daddy found a Woody the Sheriff online and so J will be worthless come the end of the week...

Here is "my favorite deputy":

I've been tagged...

I've been tagged to tell 8 habits/facts about myself. I don't know if I'm interesting to list 8 things, but here they are anyway...

1) I LOVE LOVE LOVE mysteries. Even the old movies that come on tv. If I get a new book to read, I kiss my family and tell them I'll see them again when the book is done because I get SO addicted until it's finished!

2) I really enjoy working with the youth group at church. I love teens because they are so alive and passionate and just FUN! Never a dull moment for sure! I think this age group is so great and hope I can always have a place to be there for them.

3) I like drama. Not the bad kind people have! Although I don't do it very much, I love to perform in front of people in plays or miming or signing a song... I just love to perform!

4) I'm addicted to "The Next Design Star" on HGTV. I hardly ever watch reality TV but something about this show is just fun! This is the only show I know of that I made sure I was home on time to not miss a moment!

5) I think I'm also addicted to creativity in general! I love to make things even if it's just a little card for someone's birthday, scrapbook layouts or a quilt for my son's bed. Photography is filling up most of my time right now but I still get an itch to do something else now and then!

6) I love food. I love to eat. I can eat almost anything and I probably will! My DH called me a pig on our first date because he dared me to clean my plate and I did and then some! LOL I can out eat him anyday (no small feat if you've seen the skinny guy!). I can pack it away and enjoy every bite! YUMMY!

7) Others mentioned nails so I will too - I don't like my barefeet to not have polish on the toenails but I cannot stand polish (even clear) on my fingers.

8) I like to learn new things. I feel alive when I am learning something new. And when I learn something interesting to me, I need to really study it and figure it out. I just like to figure things out! I love puzzles and riddles and mysteries...

I guess this just ran full circle to I need to now figure out who I'm going to tag! I have NO IDEA who has been tagged so if you've been tagged, don't worry about it!

I tag:
Lindsey
Noni
Sam
jenlex04
Meldan (Melissa)
JaimeP
Erin
and I can't think of another! LOL

A & S Wedding

My first wedding! As crazy as it was (and it was a crazy day!), I think I may actually enjoy weddings. Now I just need to get better at them! My favorite part was capturing the details of the day. All the little things that the bride takes great care in picking out that sometimes go unnoticed as the day goes on and the anniversaries add up. But then I've always liked little details about everything! Here are some of the images from the details of my first wedding shoot. Oh do I have SO MUCH improvement to make! I am hoping to learn fast so I can continue to do weddings. It's such a great feeling to be a part of an important day! Thanks for looking! Please CC - I want to learn!

Oh and by the way... this is not the A&S from the engagement shoot I posted before. This is a different A&S! The engagement A&S couple's wedding is next month!

My Beautiful Family

For a long time I really wanted a great image of the three of us on a canvas. I was told about this special through http://www.canvasondemand.com/ and decided it was time. So I quickly spiked up J's hair, assembled us in front of a black background, set the timer and hoped for the best. I only got a few shots from my camera-tired guys but I was thrilled with the last one. I sent in my order for a 16x16 canvas and received it today! I was SO blown away. I totally LOVE it. I was so excited!! I think it looks so incredible! I can't wait to order more and think everyone needs a great image printed on a canvas! Here is the image I used:

Treasures

These are two very special pieces of jewelry. The wedding band is my Grandmother's and it has an inscription that has my grandparent's initials and their wedding date. She recently gave this to me and it's so invaluable to me. The other ring is my great-grandmother's engagement ring. To have these make me feel like a millionaire! What special treasures they are. I look forward to the day I can pass them on to my grandchildren.

Too Busy!

*WHEW* It's been so busy. But good busy for the most part! I've been doing a lot of shoots and proofing these past couple weeks. There is also a wedding this weekend that I am going to help shoot and another one next month! In the midst of this we're planning and preparing for the youth retreat next week (Oh, am I going to miss Jeremiah!). So sorry I haven't been posting regularly! Here are a some things I've been looking at from the past couple weeks:

J is due next month (if not sooner!):

These are a few of B's Senior pics and some with her guy:

Here is one of my bestest buddies and her hubby (Happy 10th Anniversary!):

Thanks for visiting!!!

A & S Engagement Shoot

Friends A & S are a fun and sweetly romantic couple! Here are a few from their shoot earlier this week:

Thanks!

"That was easy!"

This is pretty irresistible to any hand! This was a gift to DH a couple of years ago and sits on his big desk. After all these years of those silly commercials, this still tempts people to push it at least once when they visit his office. Jeremiah loves it, of course. While we were at the office today, he could not resist pushing it several times. So today I'm combining the POTD "hand" theme (hand tempting toy!) and the Summer weekly challenge of minimalism (since it's the only thing you see on DH's desk!). Have a blessed Sunday!

*Well, this post wasn't so easy! It took a long time to upload the pic and for some reason it will not let me put a title! I think I need this on MY desk!

Yummy!

I keep seeing these cute little cupcakes everywhere! I finally found them and bought some for J. He loves them! They are so tiny they are adorable! So I was weeding through some old images to clean out files and found this one from last month's youth group picnic. And lo and behold... there is my hand holding the cupcake. So there you have it - I have a pic to post for this week's theme! J calls these "I scweem Cup-a-cakes". For a kid who doesn't eat ice cream, he sure seems to have a fetish about them this summer! TFL!

Trying My Hand...

I'm trying my hand at photography these days. I've been meaning to post before and after images of my progress and what better week to do so than "hand" week!

Last year I took J to get his pics made when he turned two. Oh what a cute kid I had all slicked up and looking sharp. Grandma came along to help get some smiles. BUT... (here it comes) J threw a HUGE fit and would NOT go into the studio. He screamed and kicked and begged and pleaded... We even tried to bribe him with crayons and a tricycle... to no avail. After multiple attempts I grumpily gave up. Sitting around at home pondering ways to get him into picture taking mode I decided to try it myself. What harm? Safety of our own home, no embarrassing tantrums in public (him or me! LOL). I took several that day and here is one that I actually liked:

HAHAHA! It totally cracks me up because now I think it's one of the worst pics I've ever taken! UGH UGH UGH I say when I see it now!

SO... thus began my journey to take better pictures of my son. It has since evovled into a desire to take better images in general. And although I see there is so much more improvement to be made, I think I'm finally getting somewhere with this. Most of my improvement has been since I bought my Canon XT in March and jumped in to a huge learning curve! I feel like I didn't really get serious about this until then.

Okay, so I've revealed an embarrassing moment of my past and now (in an attepmt to redeem myself) I'll post a few I took yesterday. Although maybe a year from now I'll redo this post and these last pics will be my embarrassing ones! HAHA!

Thanks for visiting!

Summer Challenge!

New Challenge! This week's is: Minimalism. Lots of space and your subject takes up minimal space. This is an example but I am not so thrilled with it. I think I really need to get my creative juices flowing...

Generations

I love this shot of J with his grandmother. He just turned 3 and she just turned 79! I love the interaction. He is enjoying his favorite buddy, snuggling close to grandma. It seems like she is reflecting on all the years she has experienced and pulls him close in an attempt to hold onto this moment forever...
