Faithfulness of a Mother...

This is my Grandmother's wedding ring:I'm starting to swell up just enough that my rings don't fit so great. When I did this when pregnant with Jeremiah, John bought me a little silver ring from the Christian book store. I went to retreive it this morning and saw my Grandmother's ring. I knew it was a size bigger than my own so I tired it on and it fit.

I can't help but glance down at it and think of seeing it on her hands. She can't wear it now and wanted to pass it along to me. She gave it to me a couple years ago and I have cherished it and the history attached to it.

I think about her taking care of her family and her home. I think about all this ring has been through with her. My grandfather left for the service when they were married only 3 months and he was gone for three years. I have a couple of the letters and pictures they sent back and forth during this time and I am amazed at their love holding strong under the strain of the distance between them.

I see her faithfulness to her husband, her children, her family and friends. It inspires me to be faithful to those around me as well. Life can fly by so quickly, the years wait for no one. I will treasure each moment and remember to be faithful to what is true and truly important in this life.

Just for fun, here is an image I played with of my little man. He looks like he's waiting patiently for something he's been longing for. I liked the vintage feel of it...

Have a blessed day!

Play Shoot

We had so much fun in our photography group tonight! It was way crowded in the room with all the studio equipment set up as we were having a practice shoot of a beautiful young lady but we all chatted and goofed and just had fun playing with our 'toys' together. Here are a couple from tonight...
And she races! How fun! So we got to shoot her in her racing suit also...

Have a blessed day!

The Easter Pics...

What a glorious morning it was! It was a beautiful sunny day with blue skies... perfect reminder of our Glorious Savior and what this day is all about. We pulled into church and I looked up to see a rim of light on the cloud, the sun getting ready to shine through. Just like the Son of God, shining in our hearts. I love Jesus! He died for me, the least I can do is live for Him! Praise the Lord!!!!!

By the time I got my camera out, the sun was starting to peek over the cloud. I love reminders of God being close to me and even behind the dark clouds, He's still there shining!
On to the classic Easter Pics!

As suspected, the 'cute little boy in a suit' images turned out... well, they are properly exposed and in focus. What more should a mommy expect from her three year old? LOL

He was less than thrilled with my excitement. Actually, he was just plain bored before we got started and that quickly turned into "I don't want to take a picture, Mommy!!!" So I should be thankful for the bored shot since the about-to-cry shot was him with his back turned, right?

"I know this is the first shot you're about to take but are we done yet?"

"Oooh! Mommy has an Easter Basket for me! Unless she puts it on her head, I'm not looking her way! I'm smiling but can't take my eyes off of it!!! Wheee, Candy!!!"

"Okay, I'll give you a smile but I'm also going to tell you what I think about all of this picture taking business!"

"Mommy's getting closer... I'll behave and sit up but I'm not going to smile. Maybe puppy-dog eyes will get her to put the camera down and hand over the chocolate. Cheese?"
"Not puppy-dog enough? How about this?"

Mommy playing with textures again...
After church, we went to our family dinner at Aunt Linda's (YUM!) and daddy went out and hid most of the eggs for Jeremiah - all within 3 feet of the ground. LOL Why he didn't hide them all? My goodness! Look at all of them! This next pic is when Daddy was placing the last egg! Only J was going to hunt and we didn't have all year to hide them then seek for them (and it was FREEZING!!!)...

Jeremiah all ready to run and hunt but waiting patiently for the "GO!"

One of the few images I snapped that didn't showcase his backside...

A little Depth Of Field (DOF) fun...

Counting up his loot...

Oh, there's more!!! Gotta hurry and get them before... ??? The teens decided to lounge on the couch this year instead of hunt, so he had no competition...

Most were hid in plain sight. How can you miss a bright pink egg in the grass?

Showing Daddy his treasure after Grandma helped him empty all the eggs...
Hanging out with Grandma and his loot...

He did share. He gave everyone who asked just one small piece of candy from his stash. Like he didn't get enough?

I hope you all had a Happy Easter and that the awesomeness of it all blesses you throughout the year!

Dancing Clothes...

Now, I'm the mom who never bought my kid a suit to wear because they just always seemed so uncomfortable. Stiff shirts, tight shoes, stuffy tie... Although I was bugged constantly by my mother (since his birth) that he needed a suit, I just couldn't bring myself to torture my son. But yesterday while shopping, I just thought we'd see what it looked like. Grandma was with us and she thought he'd look really sharp so I picked out one and asked if he wanted to try it on. He said "Ooooh, it's my tie? Oh, it's my dancing clothes!" He was super cooperative putting on each little piece and when he got to prance around in front of the mirror and Grandma, he thought he was pretty hot stuff! He ended up standing next to the underwear selection so he could see himself at full length and danced his little heart out to the music playing in his head. He was quite upset when I told him it was time to take them off, but he finally understood that we had to pay for it first. I wasn't sure if I'd get a decent pic of my dancing fool in his spiffy new threads so I just snapped a few of the duds by themselves:

And a sloppy attempt at some texture...

Have a blessed Easter Sunday!

Just A Little Something Green...

I was browsing through some images shot this week and found this one of some itty bitty little clover-looking things. They were so tiny! I didn't take a size reference pic, but the "white sticks" I think are dead grass from last summer. So maybe that will tell you how tiny these green things were!

Have a blessed week!

Enjoying A Sunny Afternoon

And boy was it ever sunny! But J and I had fun wandering around the yard chasing squirrels and playing on the swingset.

This next series makes me smile. He is finally big enough to reach the bar and he stretched way out until he could grab it enough to pull himself up and swing! And his big boy underpants peeking through speak of his "big-boy-hood" too!

(Sorry it's so small, I can't get it bigger for some reason!)

I'm just SO excited about Spring. Because Spring = warmer weather is coming!!! Here is an update on my lilac bush...
Thanks for visiting!

How (Not) To Eat Your Peeps...

Quickly stuff them all in your mouth and try to chew the marshmallow mound. That's what one kid tried in our annual peep eating contest:
Apparently they felt there was power in the green ones:
But that didn't work for them. It was actually Pink Peep Power that works! Well, that and patiently eating them one at a time like our winner here did:(Don't ask about the Barbie doll in the background, I'm not even sure I'd know how to answer!)

I've never been a big peep fan. And then they came out with colors and although it's my fave color, it's really sad to me to see the blue ones. Did they not get enough air in their package?
And Jess, we saved some for you!!!

Have a great week!!!

Little Boy

Just a few of my little guy from the other day while we enjoyed a break in the weather. He was singing "Doo-doo-doo" to some tune in his head and eyeing the birds flying by. His little mouth here makes me smile and I can so hear those little doo's just looking at this... And this image wasn't so sharp but seeing his little expression like this reminds me of when he was "little." He seems so big now! This sweet, innocent face seems like a million years ago. I just love this little man!

Thanks for visiting!

Something Green!

The POTD theme this week is "green" in honor of St. Patrick's Day. I know I haven't been on theme much at all this year but while playing outside today I was thrilled to see some real green on the trees and bushes! Finally! The signs of spring are sprouting! It always reminds me of the hope we have in Christ. That one day all our tears and trials will be washed away and we will be in Heaven with Him! YAY!!!

Some pics of my lilac bush taken with my new Tamron lens at f/2.8 :

I think I'm going to like this lens. It was fully zoomed at 75mm and the background is actually the inside of the bush. Love the bokeh!

And one with a little backlighting drama, the stem against the white, overcast sky:

Thanks for visiting! Have a blessed day!

Me at 24 Weeks & a Little Funny...

I haven't taken many pics of my growing belly and decided today was the day. I didn't have much room to take a decent pic so I opted for a more silouette-ish type of shot... Jeremiah couldn't be left out so when I set up the camera, he ran over to pose too. Here is the original image before I cropped it...

He's so funny! He put his hand on his hip too and started singing, "Shake your body!" while he swiveled his hips back and forth! LOL Where in the world did he get THAT from? I'm blaming Daddy... heehee

And a funny memory for today:

(Background: You have to understand that my mom was born and raised in S. Korea. She has lived in the US for like 35 years and has adapted just fine for the most part. But sometimes she still gets a little confused. At least she is a good sport and can laugh at herself!)

Two years ago, she was out shopping and noticed some decorations that reminded her it was a certain fun holiday. She thought she'd be silly and called up my brother to play a trick on him. She told him she was in an accident and totalled the car and he was trying to understand the whole thing and help her out with what to do next. It went on and on and she eventually couldn't keep answering his questions so she finally just gave in and said "April Fool's!" and just laughed and laughed until she noticed the silence on the other line. She finally said "Are you there? Did you hear me?" To which he replied, "Mom, it's St. Patrick's Day." ROFL!!!!!

Moo...

Wow! I'm on theme this week - animals!

I remembered I had these images from the fall on my Sister-In-Law's Farm. We took some family pics then headed back to the house and all the cows met us... I think they wanted a family pic too...
They make great models! They don't move too fast and they give great eye contact...
I had recently found out I was expecting and was reminded how much I could relate to them (LOL)...

Thanks for visiting! Have a blessed weekend!

What Happens When Mommy Leaves The Room...

...She returns to find her 3 year old cozied up on the couch with a package of cookies watching Discovery Kids...

First I was mad, then I laughed, then I took some pics, then I took them away, then he got mad. =)

More Food!

This was my yummy lunch today. It looked so colorful and pretty I got all happy and took some pics! Ham, Turkey, cheese, green peppers, tomatoes, pickles and some red/green lettuce all wrapped up into a little salad burrito!
I added chunks of the rest of the tomato (organic ones are especially yummy) and a glass of lemon water... Mmmmmm... Inspired by Subway and enjoyed by me! I was so happy to have a nutricious lunch, before I went to bed I ate a bowl of Mint Karaoke Cookie ice cream to celebrate. LOL

Oh, and in case you were wondering what happened to that cookie yesterday? I didn't get around to eating it. But it didn't go to waste:

Followed by a "Mmmm... it's good mommy!"

And a little Jeremiah-ism for today:

Mommy: Jeremiah, let's play! What do you want to play?

Jeremiah: Umm... Let's go to the beach!!!

M: Okay, what do we need?

J: Oh! I call George!

{Curious George, that is. His imaginary friend that goes everywhere with us}

J (puts his hand to his ear to "call" George: Oh, Hi George! Let's go to the beach, OK?

J as George: Ha-Hah! (He's actually does a good impersonation!)

J: Oh, George! You need to get an umbrella and a blanket, OK?

J as G: OH HA-HAH!

J hangs up but then tells me: Oh I forgot!

J calls George again to say: George, we need TWO blankets, OK?

J as G: OH-HAH!

J to M: George is getting the blankets.

M (giggling): Oh, OK!

J ran out of the room and returned with my purse.

M: Why did you bring my purse?

J runs away again yelling: No! I'm going to the beach! I'm almost finished!

M: With what?

J (from the other room): Come here and I'll show you!

M goes to her room to find pillows stacked up.

J: It's a Birthday Cake! With a cherry on top! Happy Birthday!!!!

I wish I could get inside his head sometimes!

Have a great day!

Happiness is...

I feel so uninteresting lately! What in the world would anyone want to see on my blog?

Well, today I decided I didn't care. LOL I was just going to take a pic of something that makes me happy. Now, lots of things make me happy. My family is one, but none of them feel like sitting through a mini portrait session with me and my camera today. I think they got a little burnt out a while ago! Hmmmm... how could THAT happen? haha!

So I glanced around to find something that made me smile and saw this:

Soft, fluffy cookie with sweet, sugary blue icing... and the best part? Sprinkles!!! Now, who doesn't love sprinkles? Just wanted to share something that brightened my dreary snow/rain day.

Little or big, what makes YOU happy today?
