Another Random Moment In Time...

Me: "Hey, Jeremiah, can I take your picture?"

Him: "Um, OK."

He wasn't so interested. Can't blame him when I'm competing with Lego Star Wars...

So I looked around his room and found this pile of random lego people/people parts...

Me: "Jeremiah! Look at this mess! If you're not playing with them, you need to clean it up..."
Him: "I'm playing! I'm playing!" He jumps out of his chair and plops on the floor to turn his attention to his legos...

He loves to play legos...

I love my boy...

A Random Moment In Time...

Time slips through our fingers, doesn't it? I decided I wasn't capturing my family moments as often as I should so I grabbed my camera to snag some random shots of our everyday life. Joshua gets excited about my camera. (See? I told you I haven't been taking pics! He should be bored of it!) He always runs up after the shutter clicks to see the image on the back of the camera then he laughs himself silly at whatever happens to be on the little lcd screen.

My beautiful little Stinker Roo...

Joshua loves to color. He prefers it over drawing. Yet another polar opposite trait of my boys. I wanted to capture randomness of our life...

But he kept making this face and saying "CHEESE!" (haha, little elf ears!)

He wasn't interested in coloring pages anymore. Just more cheese...

Love my little monkey!!!

{Mommy Moment}

We are starting school next week and I have been talking about it everyday to get Jeremiah excited about it (I'm excited!). I asked Jeremiah if he liked school. He said he did and I asked what he liked about it. With a big hug he replied, "I like it you're my teacher."
*warm fuzzies*

Incremental Compromise...

I really dislike politics. Not because of all the bashing or debating... no, I dislike it simply because it bores me. I don't even like to watch new news and it boggles my mind those people who watch CNN or FOX News ALL.DAY.LONG. Really?

However it's getting harder and harder to ignore the happenings in our world today. Kinda freaks you out if you are really paying attention. Unfortunately, I think people don't look at the bottom line or the future honestly but are distracted by our own selfishness. All in the name of 'tolerance'.
(I wish they'd use that word correctly...)

Anyway, I've been reading this little book and it's quite interesting. Hitler won the people over with incremental compromise and it's working for our leaders today. Pay attention and guard your homes and country! America is a great country and it's a shame to let it waste away to trashiness.

Ok, enough from my little soapbox. :)

Welcome Baby Aiden!

I am so thrilled to meet this little man yesterday! We have been waiting! What a blessing!!!
Mommy did fabulous, even though she had to get a C-section. Praise the Lord, God was taking care of them! It doesn't look like Aiden would have arrived as healthy any other way. But he's here and he's just PERFECT!!! And he is not helping my baby want! But at least I can live vicariously through my BFF Lindsey!

So here he is, all 6lbs and 19 inches of wiggly baby boy!

Hanging out in the nursery, trying to warm up so he can see mommy and daddy!
Josh said he screamed and wiggled like crazy. He's a busy boy right out of the womb!

"Mommy, I'm hungry!" I think he looks like Lindsey. But babies change everyday!

First time Mommy gets to hold him and really take him all in... (Lindsey, you are just beautiful!)

*Swoon* He was so happy to just be in mommy's arms...

BIG BROTHER Isaiah gets to see Aiden up close for the first time with the help of Grandpa...
(Love his expression!!!)

Family of Four pic! They look so proud! What a gorgeous family! Congrats!!!!!!

She Loves Me....

She loves me not...

Just me playing with my 50mm lens again. For some reason our extra car seat ended up in the kitchen and she took it as her new bed. Why do we spend $ on getting her a nice cat bed?

Storms May Come...

Last week, wild storms rolled in. The sky was a crazy dark blue/grey color so I snapped a shot just moments before the clouds broke and the heavy rains fell...

(This is a view of from my backyard of my neighbors. lol Gotta love the clutter and wires, eh?)

I was thinking this morning about the joy I have in my heart because I can trust in God for everything. When I looked at what to blog, I ran across this image and was reminded that even when storms come and we know it's going to be rough, I can still have hope and peace and know that it'll all be worth it in the end and I'll even get blessed many times along the way. God is good like that. :)

Rekindled Love...

I love love loved my little "Nifty Fifty" 50mm 1.8 lens on my XT. I didn't care for it much on my 5D at first so it got put away for a long time. I thought I'd try it out again and remembered why I love it...

I love the thin plane of focus and this cheapy lens is pretty darn sharp! It's not so great for people because of the distortion it creates on my full frame 5D but details like this are fabulous, don't you think?

Stuff...

Nothing special but I decided to try to post more often. So for lack of something more interesting I'll just update you on the boys.

I took Joshua to his 2 year check up and apparently he's a super tall and super skinny kid. He's at the top of the height chart at 36.25 inches but at the bottom of the bottom of the weight chart at a whopping 24.8 pounds. My mom always says Joshua looks bigger on my blog than in real life so now you can decide for yourself!

Jeremiah was a late talker and it appears Joshua is as well. But they are so different and really have two completely different reasons. What I find odd is that I was so concerned about Jeremiah not talking that I bugged the Dr at each visit and when he finally turned 4 the Doctor showed some concern. But he turned out fine, I suppose. It appears he's half genius. His IQ showed a really low verbal score of 85 which puts him in the 16th percentile and is below average ("normal" is around 100). However, his performance IQ was 133 which puts him in the highly gifted range and the 99th percentile. His average of the two scores puts him at 110 which is in the 75th percentile and right around average. It is unusual for there to be such a huge difference between the verbal and performance scores so this tells the evaluator that he has not reached his potential for his verbal score. It's normal for one to take a test and score less than what they are but not likely to score above what they are able to acheive. Can you see my head swelling? :)

To the casual observer, Jeremiah appears to have some social issues and can possibly be seen as "behind" because of his delay in verbal skills. But if you ever get to see his brain in action, you'd understand the insanely high performance score. Now if we can just get him to work out the verbal issues and use all those brains for good and not just video games...

Wow, didn't mean to go off on that tangent. I was getting at the boys being so different but having the same late-talking "problem". Basically, the Dr was not concerned about Jeremiah until he approached 4 years old, tests taken, results showed he'd be fine. Ok, so I'm not worried about Joshua, right? Well, the Dr is now very concerned about Joshua not talking more at his age. What?!!? Apparently, it's very unusual for two kids to be such late talkers. ??? The thing is that Joshua appears to be a late talker for the usual reasons: He's a boy, loves dirt/balls/cars more than talking, he's much more physical, etc... typical reasons boys tend to talk later. But Jeremiah had different reasons. He was an observer and really studied things and spent more time figuring things out instead of wasting time talking. Both boys communicated their needs just fine but still didn't say much even when prodded (and I admit, forced) to put their needs verbally. But those tricks didn't seem to help them speed things up.

So who knows what will happen now. The Dr is ready to test Joshua at his ripe old age of 2 when she wasn't interested in Jeremiah until he was almost 4. ???

So there is some update and background on my little guys. :)

These days I'm playing catch up on a lot of things and very frustrated with some things not going as well as planned and causing other things to back up... just random frustration. :)

I'm wrapping up some lesson planning for this fall and getting excited about Jeremiah starting first grade! A busy and exciting year coming to life around here!

I have been making some changes as far as my photography business and am at a peace about where it's going in the next year (or more!).

Is that enough randomness for you? I'll try to post at least one picture next time and hopefully you'll visit again soon and not hear crickets chirping!

Joshua Joins the Circus...

At least that is the title we will see one day when he's old enough to run away.

It started innocently enough... well, innocent for Joshua. Which isn't saying much. Just sayin'.

After destroying my office, he decided he wanted me to take pictures of him. Mainly of his tummy...

After creating a big mess, I let him watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on my laptop while I continued my editing. I must have been really engrossed in what I was doing because when I turned to check on him, I saw this:

Yes, Sir, he gets his scrawny little legs spread out just enough to climb up onto the arms of the rolling office chair...

Then stands right up and balances himself while he watches his beloved Mickey...

Did I mention that this is on a TILE floor? This kid is NUTS!

Stinker.

Yeah...

{Mommy Moment}

I was acting goofy dancing around the kitchen with Jeremiah until he got his milk then he started to walk off. On his way out, he told me to stop dancing. After he rounded the corner, I sang and danced a little more just to see if he'd get "mad" at me. He poked his head back around the corner and scolded me with a stern face, "Mom-meee!" I laughed and said I did it just to see him make that face. He told me to stop dancing like that. I asked him, "You want me to stop so people won't think your mom is crazy?" To which he replied as he wandered down the hall,

"Yeah."

Sheesh.

Sun x3

Sunflower, Sunset, Sunflare.

I have a couple varieties of Sunflowers growing...

A little friend...

One for Amy!

A couple days later it opened up to this and I am still in awe of it's beauty! Had to capture it with a little sunflare...
