Merry Christmas!

Our modem died Christmas Eve and we didn't get back online until yesterday evening so I'm sorry if you've seen enough Christmas snapshots already! But here are ours. I decided to condense them into a slideshow so you aren't bored to tears scrolling down. Merry Christmas!!!

We are so blessed!

Merry Christmas

Many warm Christmas blessings to you and yours!

We are not fancy folks but I did put a few touches around the house to brighten up our home and keep the Christmas spirit around. In addition to our nativity, tree and stockings I added a few of these around the house...

I saw this great idea for a Thankful Tree and decided we needed one here! I put this together then decided it was too big! So it will sit by our little pew where you will see it every time you walk into the kitchen, the living room, or the hallway. :)

Hanging from the tree are little cards that say "I am thankful..." and written under that are things we are thankful for. I hope to start this around Thanksgiving each year from now on and everyone who visits will add theirs too. Then we'll put the cards in an envelope marked for that year to be read with joy in the years to come. We don't have many traditions and I really wanted to start some for our family, whether they like it or not. lol

It also reminds me that Jeremiah needs to work more on his spelling this year...

Baby, It's Cold Outside...

Teeny, Tiny flakes on my deck...

It can keep snowing as long as I don't have to get out in it except to shoot images of snowflakes. It still amazes me the detail each itty bitty flake has. And it amazes me that I can capture it with my camera! Wow.

{Mommy Moment}
Joshua has (finally) taken off with talking. I guess the switch finally flipped! He's really so very cute counting to 12. It's even cuter that he always starts with #4.
:)

Private Christmas Concert...

I walked into the kitchen and saw this...

He parked the stroller and buckled himself in and was just sitting there, staring at the DVD player. I had recently moved it into the kitchen to have Christmas music heard all through the house. I guess he liked it! This is what we were listening to...

I love you, you cheeky little monkey!

O, Christmas Tree...

My tree is much more interesting to shoot like this: a little bokeh...

Whole lotta bokeh...

Some motion blur...

Through the looking glass...

Merry Christmas!

Loopy...

FRUIT LOOPy that is...

Not so sure this makes the colorful cereal more appealing or not but this is what happens when I get 5 minutes to wander the house looking for something to shoot with a macro lens!

Things are slowly settling down around here so I am finding a little time here and there to shoot more. Just wondering what to shoot. Ideas are appreciated!

Playin'...

It all started when Jeremiah was in a Justice League kick. He loved Superman and all the other super heroes. The best place to get the coolest super hero toys (new or used) is a little flea market type place here in town called Coolector's Mall (yes, I spelled that correctly). And it's appearance is a ghetto as it sounds. But if you are looking for cool collectibles of your old favorites, this is the place to go.

Anyway... on with the story... John took the boys once to look for Aquaman or someone and the boys also picked out this really old toy that I don't even know the name of. You can build it however you dream and watch the marbles travel down and in and around... it's a great science lesson, I'm sure. At least I'm using it as one! haha The boys love it and ask to play with it often. So I decided to take pics of Joshua playing with it and felt all nostalgic thinking of the little boys and girls from 20/30/40/? years ago playing with this very toy. It was used when we got it and I think the whole box of parts was like $3 or something.

Another part of this story is that I got a new computer and had to reload some presets from my Photoshop. While I was uploading them, I ran across some that I'm not sure if I've ever used. I played with Indie Jane's Grunge and loved the feel of it on these images. Fueled that nostalgic feel...

(look at those lashes! *love*)

haha, just noticed that Joshua is sporting more nostalgia for me with his retro Batman shirt...

watching the marble go down...

Keeping Up With The Jones'...

A couple years ago, I ran into a friend from college. We chatted a bit and i discovered she had a little girl the same age as Jey. It is always fun to reconnect, isn't it? We kept in touch off and on through Facebook and she recently contacted me about taking pics of her beautiful family. Of course I said Yes!

Jones Family... I love you all! Thanks for allowing me to capture these precious memories!

Miss A is a perfect little doll! Almost made me wish I had a little girl...

Miss A... the A must stand for adorable...

And of course a few snaps of this great looking couple...

Laura, you are fabulous. And beautiful. Can I hate you for that? That might be hard since you are such a great friend! And my Lia Sophia lady! haha Lunch soon, k?

xoxo

P.S. See post below to see how you can get some amazing images of your family like the Jones Family at a big discounted price! Be Merry and be bright - don't pass up this special!

Don't forget!

Studious Stinker...

It's so fun watching Joshua grow and learn. I feel like time is flying by and I'm missing all these little details that I cherished when Jey was this little. Here are a few snapshots I took a while back of Joshua drawing circles and then adding eyes and other details....

The little one is Jey ("Joe") and the big headed one is "Mommy". :)

The Perfect Christmas Present...

We have decided that the perfect gift for Joshua this year would be a human arm...

This is because he likes LOVES to dig up your sleeve, wiggle the skin on your elbow (and hit that nerve *just* right), and pick your fingernails. He also often gets a strong urge to rub RAM and drive his forehead into any part of your arm. He would do this all day long if you let him. And that is why we're looking for a human arm he can drag around with him like Jeremiah carries around his beloved cloth diaper. Merry Christmas!

Long Overdue...

Posting this and what I'm posting about!

The night before we left for our little vacation (last month!) we cleared the kitchen/dining area of pretty much everything. While we were gone, our floor was riped out and replaced with tile. I am still beyond thrilled about it! Why am I so thrilled? Well, it's almost embarrassing to show what our floor looked like. It was linoleum and it was bad linoleum. It was a design/color that looked dirty all the time. It was cracked and had split seams (most were there when it was installed) and it had a ton of uncleanable scratches all over. So pretty new tile makes me very VERY happy!

The night before we left, I snapped a few quick shots. Most of the furniture was already out of the room...

A close up of the "lovely" floor...

And that is a fairly CLEAN floor. See how dirty it looks?!? Drove me nuts!

Now here is a glimpse of the new floor!

I love it about as much as you can an inanimate object. Maybe more.
*swoon*

Now I guess I need to work on the blinds. I think I'll wait until Joshua moves out since he likes to try to climb them.

I {heart} Christmas...

A new perspective of my tree...

Snow: up close...

Thanks to a sweet sweet friend, I get to try my hand with a macro lens - Canon 100mm 2.8 to be exact. Let me tell you, it's not easy! I usually have a pretty steady hand but this lens is really quite picky and looking through my glass, I feel like a rickety old lady shivering in the cold trying to be still! No wonder it's hard to get things in focus! Maybe I need the lens with USM feature AND the IS...

Anyway... I was just playing around to see what this little bad boy can do and I was amazed at how close you can get! I could NOT see these snowflakes with my naked eye. I could only see them through the lens! I did a 100% crop so you can see the detail of the tiny snowflake. I know, it's a terrible picture but I felt I needed to post about it for those who knew I had this lens in my bag on borrow. Krista, I have SO much to learn!!! Help!

Just how tiny was this? I took a pair of black pants outside and let it cool (freeze!) to the outside temp. Then tossed some snow onto it and began shooting. Here's a pull back with my glove to give you an idea of how micro this macro lens can get!

Haven't gotten any good shots but definately hooked now! *drooling*

Dear Santa,
My list is getting too long, isn't it?

xoxo

Cute Kid...

Even if he whines all day and fights with his brother... those crazy moments melt away with this one sweet little face. Love you, Little Buddy!
