100 Days!!!!
Okay, so his 100th day was this past Sunday and I'm a blog slacker - sorry! Life happens, you know? It's been a stressful and highly emotional roller coaster around here these past few weeks and in the middle of it all, Joshua hit his 100th day.
Happy Paegil, little buddy!
This is a BIG deal in Korean tradition. It comes from the old, old days when many babies did not survive this long. So they made all these rules about not leaving the house and no one could visit and it was taboo to give baby gifts... all until this glorious 100th day. Then the party started! lol I couldn't find a really great site to explain it all but this one will do: Korean Traditions And no, we didn't pass out 100 rice cakes. I couldn't even get my family to try them! (Except Leanne - you go girl!) They really are yummy, those chickens don't know what they're missing!
My mom would be greatly embarrassed that we didn't celebrate super huge, Korean style, but she wasn't here to set me straight. She'll be here for his Tol - first birthday - another HUGE deal in Korean tradition. Then she can take over and do it right! lol
Joshua's 100th day happened to fall on a Sunday. Not a very good day for us to prepare a huge meal and have guests over since we are pretty busy on Sundays being a Pastor's family and all. Well, that and we didn't really remember it was coming up until the last minute - doh! But it just didn't seem right to celebrate it on day 99, right? So we scrounged up what Korean food we did have and invited the family for lunch. It was terribly informal - just like me. But it was just fun to gather together, eat yummy food and celebrate life and health and to be thankful for our littlest man. Even if he did sleep through the meal. Oh well, he got to eat it later. ;)
I was too busy in the kitchen to take pics so I snapped a few later that afternoon of the man of the hour. The color on these are all different and crazy! I'll have to fix that before I print them...
"Here she goes again..."
"Argh!" (We love pirates!) He just needs an eye patch, don't you think?
Love these thick, full lips!
Even if they all but disappear when he smiles!
Blowing bubbles...
Love this in B&W too!
And guess what?!?!
Thanks to Target, they come in a winter version!
Complete with cape and lights on his chest. Lucky us... maybe. He's a bit thrilled, can you tell?
Mommy Moment: You know those mornings when you get up and your hair is all funky, stingy... a mess? I was helping Jeremiah get his pants on and he looks up and notices my wild, shaggy 'do and smiles really big. I'm expecting him to laugh and crack some remark about how crazy I look and he says, "Mommy! Your hair! It's so pretty! You look beautiful!" Awww... he got a big hug from a funky momma.
